BANSKO RAZLOG GOLF EXPLAINED
Bansko golf explained  In the next 6-7 years Bansko golf will be associated only with the Ian Woosnam signature Pirin golf cours e, which will become operational in late 2008.  From 2009 on, thousands of golfers at Pirin Golf and Country Club will be teeing off and enjoying the lush fairways and perfectly prepared greens,  mastered in the spectacular backdrop of Pirin and Rila mountains. In two years time this will be the second largest alpine ( ski resort ) golf course after Kitzbuel in Austria after its extension with new 9 to 18 holes. The course is expected to mature in 2-3 years, when it will host international tournaments.
Pirin Golf course is associated mostly with Bansk o, because this small Bulgarian town at the foothills of Pirin Mountains entered firmly the world ski destinations map. The truth is that Pirin Golf & Country Club gated community that incorporates the 18 hole Ian Woosnam signature golf course lays in Razlog municipality territory. Distances are negligible - everyone who has been there knows that you see Razlog town from Bansko (5 km).
Pirin Golf is the first signature golf course to open in Bulgaria.

The fact that the towns of Bansko and Razlog lay in the valley below the ski slopes gives them competitive advantage to many Alpine high altitude resorts. Championship 18-hole golf courses is not simple to develop in the high Alps. Here comes the advantage of Bansko and Razlog. The valley , closed between Pirin , Rila and Rhodopa montains provides excellent conditions for golf course development. This opportunity has been materialised by the enthusiasts who started the development of the first genuine signature golf course in Bulgaria -  Pirin Golf  in late 2002. It took more than 5 years before Pirin golf fairways became reality on the hard, stone littered terrain. Any future golf project in Bansko - Razlog ski resort area (some annonced recently) will need at least the same time to complete. Until then... if you want to golf in Bansko - Pirin Golf will be the place of choice.
Bansko golf property explained: Recently, many new Bulgarian and British developments were started around Pirin Golf course, some located very close to its fence.  As it happened in Bansko where the "strongest" selling argument is "meters from the Gondola lift station", those building residential properties (mostly apartments) around the golf course use as a selling point "meters from the Ian Woosnam golf course" argument.  Many investors were told that owning a house or apartment outside Pirin Golf and Country Club will provide free access to the golf.
Golfers, skiers and investors from England , Scotland, Wales, Ireland and from many European countries usually do not know that Pirin Golf is a privately owned golf course. Bansko ski resort golf property fairy tale is based on a simple mathematics - owning an affordable holiday property in a ski resort area with golf as additional summer activity gives unbeatable investment argument for stable rental income. Some fuel the story with  3-D images and pictures from other golf courses , misleading investors that the golf infrastructure will be freely accesible on a " pay per play" basis. This is simply not the case.
The truth is that that the golf course is being built on a 100% privately owned plot and only its owners and developers can determine how it will be managed. The whole massive plot of almost 920 000 sq.m. of land (soon above 1,4 mln. sq.m.)  that includes the golf course, the driving range, the 5- star hotel with numerous amenities and the residential buildings inside Pirin Golf and Country Club is one integral development. In May 2007 the developers and owners of the golf course issued a special letter stating clearly what is the status of the golf course and who is in charge.
It is clear that soon, many investors, who have been lured with "meters from the golf course" glossy advertising may find themselves in an uneasy position.  It helps to call us before making any payments to anything outside Pirin golf if you are a golfer or investor relying on the dual season Bansko :  tel. 0845 0945 048 or 020 7373 5635 .
