BANSKO SKI AND GOLF RESORT

Bansko is a small Bulgarian town in Southwestern Bulgaria with population of over 6000. It is located in Bansko - Razlog valley at the foothills of Pirin Mountain - a natural preserve on the World Natural Heritage , 150 km (2 hours’ drive) from the Bulgarian capital , Sofia and 120 km (1,5 hours' drive) from the Greek Aegean sea shores. Bansko is fast becoming European class ski and golf resort. Pirin is the second highest mountain in the Balkans with two peaks that tower above 2900 m. The first championship signature golf course in Bansko ski resort area was named after the spectacular mountains above it - Pirin golf.

Bansko - Razlog valley has strong golf , ski and spa potential. It is different from the high altitude French ski resorts and lays at 920 - 1000 m. above sea level. There are no residential or private ski chalets high in Pirin and Rila mountains thus preserving their virgin beauty. Skiers are brought to the high altitude skiing areas that hold snow for 4-5 months between 1750 - 2600 m. with fast 8-seater cable car lifts in only 20 min. Present ski slopes above Bansko can accommodate 10 000 ski and snowboard fans at a time. With new capacity under development now, numbers will increase to 16 000, forming the largest ski resort in East Europe. Bansko aiport is expected to start operating after turning an existing airfield into a local low cost airport following examples from Spain and other European countries.

Skiing : Skiing conditions on the slopes beneath Todorka peak are excellent — snow lies on the slopes from December until the end of April, usually 1.5- 2.5 m. thick. With its 65 km of maintained piste, which are planned to double in a couple of years, Bansko has become the fastest Summer recreational potential : Bansko - Razlog area is rapidly developing into an year-round modern resort place. Concentrating high class golf and ski in ecologically clean area with modern facilities makes this part of Bulgaria a center of mountain , golf and ski sports and recreation with no competition in a Eastern Europe.developing ski resort in Europe. Spa potential is also high, based on the abundance of warm mineral springs located in the valley.

With its unique location in a bowl-like valley surrounded by 3 mountains, Bansko is an excellent starting point for hiking and numerous summer mountain activities - horse riding, white water rafting, fishing etc..
